Lead sub-oxide or grey oxide is a mixture of 60 to 80 percent lead monoxide and 20 to 40 percent of finely divided metallic lead powder. The free lead content can be varied to suit different requirement of customers. It is a product of great importance in the field of secondary cells. The product which is almost entirely in tetragonal alpha form has been established as superior to Barton Oxide (due to presence of some beta monoxide) because of greater degree of reactivity for storage battery plate manufacturing industry. Refined Lead (Minimum 99.97% purity) is required input for our Grey Oxide manufacturing plant, which uses the Ball Mill process and has below specifications:

|
Storage Batteries:
Lead sub-oxide is used in preparation of plates for storage cells. The oxide paste is prepared by mixing sub-oxide with water and then wit sulphuric acid. The particle size of the oxide plays an important role in determining the life and capacity of the battery.
